MV Stop/Arrest - Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe

On 5/2/2015 at 6:02p.m., Sgt. Michael Monaco was on patrol in the area of Main Street when he observed a vehicle with motor vehicle violations. (View obstruction and NJ Inspection sticker with North Carolina plates).

Subsequently, the vehicle was stopped and an investigation revealed that the driver, identified as John L. Moore,  Jr. age 22 of Branchville, N.J.  had a suspended N.J. driver’s license and active warrants out of Jefferson Twp. ($2,000) and Butler ($350.00).

Moore was taken into custody and a search incident to arrest revealed a hypodermic syringe in his right front pants pocket. As a result, he was charged as follows:

N.J.S. 2C:36-6   Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe. (Disorderly Persons Offense).

Additionally, he was also issued summonses for the following:

39:3-40 Operating a Motor Vehicle While Driver’s License is Suspended.

39:3-29a Failure to Exhibit Driver’s License

39:3-29c Failure to Exhibit a Valid Insurance Card

 Moore was then turned over to Jefferson Twp. Police Department before being lodged in the Morris County Jail in default of bail.
