On 2/15/15 at 11:49a.m., Newton Police received a report of an unknown motorist striking a street sign on Water Street (southbound shoulder) before leaving the scene with visible signs of damage to the passenger side fender and passenger side mirror of his vehicle.  Subsequently, the vehicle in question, a 2003 Grey Ford Taurus, was stopped by Ptl. Jose Morales on Diller Avenue and Jeffrey Luszcz, age 26 of Hamburg, NJ was identified as the driver.  Luszcz’s lone passenger was identified as Erik Young, age 22, of Sparta, NJ.

An active warrant was located for Lusczc out of Ogdensburg and at the time of his arrest he was found to be in possession of (3) heroin glassine folds, rolling papers and (7) hypodermic syringes. As a result, he was processed and lodged in the Sussex County Jail in default of $1,0000 bail after being charged with the following offenses:

N.J.S. 2C:36-2 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia  (Disorderly Persons Offense)

N.J.S. 2C:36-6 Possession of Hypodermic Syringe (Disorderly Persons Offense)

39:4-129   Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident

39:4-130   Failure to Report a Motor Vehicle Accident

39:4-97     Careless Driving

39:3-29B   Failure to Exhibit Documents (Registration)

 

Young was found to have two active warrants out of Sparta and Montville and he was processed and released on his own recognizance.
