(MVA) Motor Vehicle Vs. Pedestrian

On 10/12/16 at 1:49p.m., Newton Police responded to the intersection of Trinity Street and Moran Street(s) to investigate a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.


Subsequent investigation revealed that Michael Ulmer, age 47, of Trenton Place, Newton was operating a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban and was in the process of turning left from Moran Street onto eastbound Trinity Street when he failed to observe Maryann Keane, age 60, of Main Street, Newton, and struck her.  Witnesses indicated that Keane was in the crosswalk at the time of the incident and was knocked to the ground.


Keane was transported to Newton Medical Center by Atlantic EMS.


As a result, Ulmer was issued for the following:

39:4-97   Careless Driving
