Random Plate Check Reveals Suspended License and Leads to Drug Arrest

On Monday May 21, 2018 at 8:16p.m., Ptl. John Flanagan conducted a random motor vehicle lookup on a vehicle which revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended license.  He then stopped the vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Durango, on East Clinton Street and the driver was confirmed to be the registered owner and was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

 

Upon speaking with the driver, identified as Shane R. Hunsicker, age 39, of Augusta, NJ, the strong odor of raw marijuana was detected coming from the interior of the vehicle. Hunsicker was then found to be in possession of marijuana and a small glass smoking pipe which were found in the vehicle.

 

Hunsicker was arrested, processed and released after being charged with the following criminal offenses:

 

N.J.S. 2C:35-10A(4)   Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana (Disorderly Persons offense)

N.J.S. 2C:36-2              Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Disorderly Persons offense)

 

He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for

N.J.S. 39:3-40              Operating with Suspended DL

N.J.S. 39:3-29a            Failure to possess credentials

N.J.S. 39:4-49.1          Drug possession by motor vehicle operator

 

Hunsicker has a mandatory court appearance in Newton Municipal Court on 06/12/2018.
