On 2/14/14 at 2:01p.m., Ptl. John Flanagan stopped a vehicle on Spring Street after observing that the operator was not wearing his seatbelt. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, Kenneth Johnson, age 18, of Newton had a suspended driver's license and an active warrant for his arrest out of Raritan Twp. Municipal Court with $750.00 bail.
Johnson was taken into custody and a search incident to arrest resulted in the discovery of a small plastic bag on his person containing less than 50 grams of marijuana and a Jackpot cigar wrapper. As a result, Johnson was charged with the following:
39:3-40 Suspended License
30:3-10 Unlicensed Driver (Expired DL)
39:3-76.2f No Seatbelt
N.J.S. 2C:35-10a(4) Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (DP Offense)
N.J.S. 2C:36-2 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (DP Offense)
Johnson was released pending a 2/25/14 appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
