Due to his injuries, the pedestrian was transported to Newton Medical Center by the Newton First Aid Squad.  The motorist was not injured in the collision.  St. Clare’s paramedics, the N.J. State DOT Traffic Diversion Unit and the Newton Fire Department also responded to assist.

The accident is currently being investigated by members of the Newton Police Department, the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Motorists should expect delays and plan alternate routes accordingly.
