Hit and Run MVA leads to Warrant Arrest

On 4/18/14 at 2:10p.m., Newton Police received a report of a hit and run accident near the intersection of Woodside Avenue and Paterson Avenue in which one vehicle struck another from behind and then fled the scene.

Investigation revealed that Steven Castimore, age 53, Unemployed, of 96 Main Street, Newton operating a 1995 Black Chevrolet Blazer northbound on Woodside Avenue struck a  2004 Silver Chrysler  Sebring from behind which was also being operated northbound by Heather Doyle-Bohot, age 42, of Blairstown, N.J. before fleeing the scene.   

Subsequently, Castimore was located at his residence, taken into custody and charged with the following offenses:

N.J.S. 39:4-97        Careless Driving

N.J.S. 39:3-40        Operating a MV with a Suspended License

N.J.S. 39:4-129b   Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident

N.J.S. 39:4-130      Failure to report a Motor Vehicle Accident

N.J.S. 39:3-29c      Failure to Exhibit Documents

N.J.S. 39-6B-2       Operating a Motor Vehicle without Liability Insurance

2C:40-26B (4th Degree)   Operating a Motor Vehicle during the Period of License Suspension while having been previously convicted of violating the N.J.S.39:4-50 (Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence) statute.

 

Castimore was processed and lodged in default in the Sussex County Jail after separate outstanding municipal warrants from Franklin Boro Court with $1,000 no 10% bail and Frankford Twp Court with $250.00 no 10% bail respectively were also confirmed.

 

Neither driver was injured as a result of the collision.

 

Case pending a 4/23/14 appearance in Sussex County Superior Court.
