Arrest - Possession of C.D.S., Hypodermic Syringe & Paraphernalia

On 5/15/16 at 8:00p.m., Newton Police were investigating a trespassing complaint at a Halsted Street residence when a check revealed an active warrant for Scott J. August, age 35, of Newark, N.J. for a Violation of Probation.


Subsequent investigation revealed that the warrant was confirmed and that August was in possession of 10 bags of suspected heroin, (2) hypodermic syringes and (1) empty wax fold (utilized for storing heroin) which were present inside his pants pockets.


As a result, August was charged with the following offenses:

N.J.S. 2C:35-10a(1)  Possession of A Controlled Dangerous Substance  (3rd Degree)

N.J.S. 2C:36-6         Possession of a Hypodermic Syringe   (Disorderly Persons)  

N.J.S. 2C:36-2         Possession of Drug Paraphernalia   (Disorderly Persons)

 

August was lodged in the Sussex County Jail in default of the warrant.

Ptl. John Flanagan, Ptl. Shawn Burke and Sgt. Scott King.
