Residents are being asked to remain extra vigilant since Newton police began investigating a report that a woman was assaulted by two men wearing ski masks as she exited her residence on her way toward her vehicle on Gardner Avenue at about 5 AM this morning (Saturday 3/26/2016).  One of the men brandished a small knife during the encounter and put his hand over her mouth.  They fled the area after stealing a small amount of cash from her purse.  Police were unable to locate any suspects.

There have been several unsolved car burglaries as well as a vehicle theft that occurred recently in this area that may be related to this incident.  Newton Police request residents remain vigilant, always lock your cars, your homes and call the police whenever you see anything or anyone that may be suspicious.
