M.V. Stop/CDS Arrest

On 07/25/2019 at 11:25p.m., Ptl. John Flanagan was conducting traffic enforcement on Water Street (Rt. 206) when he observed a 2016 Chrysler traveling south at a high rate of speed.  Ptl. Flanagan conducted a motor vehicle stop and subsequent investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, Rakeen Cabassa, age 23, of Middletown, N.Y. was in possession of C.D.S. (Marijuana) and “Raw” brand rolling papers.

As a result, Cabassa was charged with the following:

N.J.S. 2C:35-10a(4)   Possession of Less Than 50 grams of Marijuana (Disorderly Persons)

N.J.S. 2C:36-2            Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Disorderly Persons)

 

Cabassa was also issued summonses for:

39:4-98       Speeding

39:4-49.1    Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle

 

Additionally, Cabassa was found to have an active ATS warrant out of Washington Twp. Municipal Court in the amount of $750.00.  He was processed and released on his own recognizance pending an 8/13/19 appearance in Newton Municipal Court.
