On 1/12/17 at 1:06a.m., Sgt. Michael Monaco conducted a motor vehicle stop on Sparta Avenue for a speeding violation.


Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver was identified as Christopher J. Caufield, age 30, of Sussex, N.J. who had initially provided a false name to the officer.

A warrant check revealed that Caufield had a $2,500.00 warrant out of Totowa Boro Municipal Court and that his driver’s license was suspended.


As a result, he was arrested and charged with the following offenses and motor vehicle violations:

N.J.S. 2C:29-3B(4)   Hindering Apprehension  (Disorderly Persons Offense)

N.J.S. 2C:29-1A       Obstruction  (Disorderly Persons Offense)

39:4-98   Speeding

39:3-40   Operating a Motor Vehicle While Suspended

39:3-10   Unlicensed Driver

 

Caufield was turned over to the Totowa Boro Police Department and lodged in the Passaic County Jail.


Case pending an appearance in Newton Municipal Court on 1/24/2017.
