Earlier today, this Saturday December 3, 2016, at 3:33 a.m., Officers responded to an apartment on Spring Street for a report of a possible overdose.

Upon arrival, Patrol Officers observed a 27-year-old male in the bathroom.  He was unconscious and in respiratory arrest, believed to be due to a heroin overdose.

Officers immediately administered Narcan and performed rescue breathing for him which subsequently led to the male regaining consciousness.  He was then transported to the Newton Medical Center by the Newton First Aid Squad for further treatment.

He was also provided with referral information about the County’s CLEAR Program, the Community Law Enforcement Addiction Recovery initiative, www.CLEARprogram.org.

The responding Officers were Patrolmen Daniel Finkle, Mahir Kaylani and Russell Post.
