About Tree Frog Treks

Tree Frog Treks is a mobile science education company based in San Francisco. We offer a variety of school and community programs designed to make science fun, connect kids with nature, and exercise imaginations of all ages. We endeavor to help children develop better retention skills, an enthusiasm for learning and a greater appreciation of the wonderful world around us. We use contact with live reptiles and amphibians to excite students about science and draw them into a fun, hands-on curriculum.

Summary of Role

This is an educator position for school enrichment programs and special events in and around San Francisco. Both Lead Naturalist and Assistant Naturalist positions are available at this time. Assistant teachers have less responsibility for planning and teaching programs. Teachers will lead school enrichment programs and special events based on different curriculum (provided by Tree Frog Treks). Lead teachers will also be responsible for handling live reptiles, amphibians and insects in order to excite students about science and draw them into our fun, hands-on curriculum. The primary student audience is pre-K through 5th grade, though our community events are open to all ages. This position entails teaching a minimum of 3-5 afternoons a week with the opportunity to increase hours. Classes are scheduled for the afternoon, weekends, and some mornings. A science background is helpful and preferred, but not necessary.

Summer Camp

The position can continue as a Naturalist for summer camp taking place in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. Naturalists will lead groups of 15 - 20 campers in activities around the park and on field trips outside of San Francisco. Summer camp runs from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Each Group will have two instructors creating approximately a 1:8 teacher to camper ratio. Naturalists will have freedom within the student-directed curriculum to inspire and guide campers into discovery.
