Wild Oakland Presents... Overwintering lady beetles at Redwood Regional Park!

How many lady beetles have you ever seen at once? One? Five? How about hundreds, thousands, or even millions??

Join us on Saturday, Feb 14 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm as we search for clusters of overwintering convergent lady beetles! For this walk, Wild Oakland has teamed up with the Saturday / Sunday Stroll series hosted by the East Bay Regional Parks. For more information about these strolls, check out page 14 of the EBRP Activity Guide!

We’ll walk an easy 3 miles through a beautiful forest in Redwood Regional Park searching for the seasonal phenomenon of these insects huddling together. Our walk leader will be Michael Charnofsky, an East Bay Regional Park naturalist.

Parking fees may apply ($5 per car). Bring drinking water, snacks, jacket, and don’t forget your camera!

We will meet rain or shine at 10 am at Canyon Meadows Staging Area, Redwood Regional Park (7867 Redwood Rd, Oakland). Canyon Meadow Staging Area is on the eastern side of the park- you’ll drive through Redwood Gate to get there.
