Heads-up - spammer using this group to harvest email addresses

I just received a spam email from "Норд Фуд Сервис" offering to sell octal tube sockets (which don't even fit nixies!), sent to an email address I only use here. I would encourage all members to not do business with people who send spam.

Hmmm. As an ordinary member, can you see other members' email addresses either in the digest or from the forum?

Also, I'd be interested in the email of the spammer.

If you reply to a post by email, you can often see the replier email address.

It amazes me how many vintage devices he's acquired for resale.

I use the emailed version and can see most people’s email addresses but not all.

The ones that I cannot see say ‘X Y’via neonixie-l.

As far as I know, I'm an ordinary member and I can see email addresses associated with with individuals posts.
This is in the digest I read every morning. Its in grayed out text above each post.

I would post a screen shot but that would have individual email addresses.

Just stop sending them at all instead of apologising to people one by one and removing their adresses. Spam mailing is considered rude and to be honest I didn't even bother looking at your offer - I don't read spam.

Probably coincidence; I get very little spam and I dont have extra filtering set.

As far as I know, your email address is not disclosed until you send a private message to a neonixie member, and even then only to the member you are contacting.

Group admins have the ability to view the email address of all members, but as a non-admin member I will vouch for their integrity not to give out anyone's info.

I don't get any spam on this either (Gmail's filters are actually pretty good). I can also vouch for Yuriy, the originator of the list....I've bought many tubes from him and he's honest and reasonable. A simple request to him to remove your name will suffice I'm sure.

I can see everyones e-mail addresses in the daily digest too, and always have done. It marks up every post sequentially in the digest just like an e-mail chain, with "Firstname Lastname <em...@address.com>" format. It is useful if you do with to take a conversation off list and is probably how it should work in an ideal world, but then the online world has become less than ideal in the last decade. I dont get Yuri messages but then this is the first reply I have posted on here is 6 months or so - I am a lurker, so to speak. My suggestion to Yuri would be to post to his own stock list topic on here, listing his updated quantities and prices of indicating devices, once a fortnight or month maybe. That would do and would not be OTT. No direct mailing.
