Audio sample rate

What is the reason that the audio sample rate is limited to 48khz (PP_AUDIOSAMPLERATE_48000) ?

I am working on a project where all my audio is stored in 96khz, I really don't want to have to resample every audio frame if I can help it. My other alternative is to use the SDL naclport, I really don't want to have to use that either.

What other options do I have?
