PPAPI plugin that shows up in chrome:plugins

Adobe provides a PPAPI plugin as a .dmg installer that I run on Mac. As a result, Adobe shows up in chrome:plugins. Can I make my own Chrome plugin like that ? Is there documentation on how to do that ? Do I just need to use the TOOLCHAIN=host to build a .so and distribute that with my .dmg Mac installer ?
