Run NaCl module in packaged app event page

Hello, I'm wondering if there is any way to load and run a NaCl module in the event (background) page on a Chrome Packaged app? 

Since the event page is the only place to receive the onSuspend event and be sure to stick around for more than a few seconds, I'm hoping there is a way to run the NaCl module here so that we can do cleanup work before the app goes away.
