Assam Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 523 candidates out of 525 candidates who are contesting in the second phase of Assam Assembly Elections to be held on 11 April 2016. Please find below details of the age, gender and education background of these candidates.
Education, Age & Gender Details:
· Education details of candidates: 231 (44%) candidates have declared their education qualification between 5th standard and 12th standard, while 278 (53%) candidates have declared having an educational qualification of graduate or above. 2 candidates have declared themselves to be Illiterate and 1 candidate has simply declared himself as a literate.
· Age details of candidates: 334 (64%) candidates have declared their age to be between 25 and 50 years while 185 (35%) candidates have declared their age to be between 51 and 80 years. While 1 candidate has disclosed to be older than 80 years of age, 3 candidates have not disclosed their age details.
· Gender details of candidates: 48 (9%) female candidates are contesting in Second Phase of the Assam assembly election this year.
