Dear Friends,

Assam Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of all 539 candidates who are contesting in the first phase of Assam Assembly Elections to be held on 04 April 2016. Please find below Education, Gender & Other Background details of these candidates.

Analysis of Education, Gender & Other details of Candidates

· Education details of candidates: 301 (56%) candidates have declared their education qualification to be between 5^th pass and 12th Pass pass, while 221 (41%) candidates have declared having an educational qualification of graduate or above. 9 candidates have declared themselves to be simple literates and 1 candidate has declared to be an illiterate.

· Age details of candidates: 344 (64%) candidates have declared their age to be between 25 and 50 years while 189 (35%) candidates have declared their age to be between 51 and 80 years. While 1 candidate has disclosed to be older than 80 years of age, 5 candidates have not disclosed their age details.
