Municipal Council / Nagar Panchayat Elections in Nasik, Ahmednagar, Ratnagiri, Raigad and Sindhudurg districts, 2016

Summary and Highlights

Dear Friends

Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Maharashtra Election Watch have analysed the self- sworn affidavits of 1955 candidates, who are contesting for the first phase of Municipal Council / Nagar Panchayat Elections in Nasik, Ahmednagar, Ratnagiri, Raigad and Sindhudurg districts, 2016, scheduled to be held on 27^th November, 2016. Due to unavailability of candidate affidavits for Ratnagiri council, Sangamner council and Shirdi nagar panchayat, ADR could not analyse background details of these local bodies for this election.

Local bodies elections are being held for 586 seats spread across 300 wards in above 5 districts, details of which are as follows –

· Age Details of Candidates: 12 candidates have not mentioned their age in their affidavits. 62 candidates have declared their ages to be between 21 to 24 years, 239 candidates have declared their ages to be between 25 to 30 years, 634 candidates have declared their ages to be between 31 to 40 years, 642 candidates have declared their ages to be between 41 to 50 years, 286 candidates have declared their ages to be between 51 to 60 years, 73 candidates have declared their ages to be between 61 to 70 years while 7 candidates had declared their age to be between 71 to 80 years.
