at first look: Are you sure your Mule installation is making use of the
J2SDK you installed? For what the libraries look like, you're having
Classpath or something similar installed and running; what does your
JAVA_HOME and PATH look like?

if you do have gcj installed, you'll have a gcj/gij "java" in /usr/bin
which mule is not really likely to work with. To get things started the
way you want it, you should _prepend $JAVA_HOME/bin to your PATH like
export PATH=$JAVA_HOME/bin:$PATH
in order to "find" the java executable that comes with the J2SDK before
finding the one that comes with gcj. This probably will resolve your
issue (at least, it did for me on Ubuntu where things are the
same. :) ).
