Aloha all,

mu4e is a joy to use.  Many thanks to the author and contributors!

During setup I managed to duplicate about 15,000 messages, and I'd like to use mu-dups to identify and delete them.  IIUC, this requires mu compiled with support for Guile.

I installed mu +emacs (and mu-devel +emacs) with MacPorts, both of which appear to compile without Guile support.

I have Guile installed separately.

Is it possible to get mu with Guile support from MacPorts?  If not, are there other OS X package managers that offer this option?

All the best,
Tom

Hi Tom,
I think it is possible, you need to open a ticket
(https://trac.macports.org/wiki/Tickets) for you request and the
maintainer of mu port will add +guile variant, it is probably very
easy.

Done. Thanks.

In response, the maintainer at MacPorts asked me if there are reasons
not to enable Guile support as the default.

Would this be OK, or should Guile support be added as a variant?

All the best,
Tom

Installing Guile is not cheap.

I don't use mu's guile binding and mu works well for me, so personally
I think a variant is enough.

OK, thanks for your help.

The only reason not to have guile support is the extra dependency; so
if MacPorts takes care of that it should be fine to have mu/guile as the
one and only.

Cheers,
Dirk.

Aloha all,

It appears there will be a guile variant on MacPorts.

Aloha all,

Now that MacPorts has added guile support I was expecting the ability to run mu scripts.  Instead, I get this message:

mu: the 'script' command is not available in this version of mu (2)

I'm writing to ask if this means guile support is lacking?  If so, I'll get back to MacPorts and raise the issue again.

Thanks,
Tom
