Hi

I have recently moved to a new computer and new operating system (osx). I have emacs* and mu** from Homebrew and I get the folowing error when replying to certain messages:

error in process filter: member: Args out of range: "/archive", 53, 57

Thinking it might be related to where the messages lives I tried to move it to another folder without success (same error).

If I remove the code I've added for the account selection (see here: https://www.djcbsoftware.nl/code/mu/mu4e/Multiple-accounts.html) the problem is solved. I would however really like to have that functionality.

Any ideas?

Your version supports contexts (cited in the same page) and that
is the recommended way to change accounts.

I would try to move from that old hack to contexts first.

It took me some time (why change it if it works, right?) ;) but it
was worth the effort and it didn't took long.

Right, I have this vague memory of the reason I decided to *not* go with contexts but you have convinced me to do it now!

Thanks!

Ok, that was easy enough and solved the problem.

A related question:

I use getmail to fetch all my email from different accounts into the same Maildir. Would it be better now that I'm using contexts to keep them separated? It does not seem to me to matter so far.

And, as long as I keep doing it the way I am, choosing context at mu4e startup doesn't really make a difference?

Best,
/Henrik

Great! :-)

From what I could read on the list, yes, it seems to be common and sane practice, independently from using our not contexts.

I have it that way too, each account on its own directory directly under ~/Maildir.

> And, as long as I keep doing it the way I am, choosing context at mu4e startup doesn't really make a difference?

Exactly. The specific context will be selected based on your rules, and if not, it will be asked. :-)

Thank you so much for the support, this really made mu4e an even better email client! No I just need to find evaluate if getmail is the best option for getting mail and if smptmail is the best sender.

Thanks again!

Beautiful, I'm happy it helped. :)

While those issues depends on each person, worklow and system
characteristics, these are recurrent discussions in the list...
and with sound reasons.

I found -as many others- that mbsync works faster and with less
resources than offlineimap, but other found offlineimap
configuration simpler.

Sending mail (MTA) is the other point, along with mail processing
(MDA).

Let's keep sharing our experiences so we can help newcomers to
choose the best solution for each case. :)

Abrazo...
