Would there be a means (eventually) of adding better group chat support than is in the stock plugin in your alternative?  Currently, I have to manually invite each person to a chat.  For the purposes I need this for at work, this is something like 30 invites.  I would much rather be able to right-click on a group in Pidgin (or a manually-configured “chat” that I’ve previously set contacts to be part of) and immediately create an MSN group chat with all the associated users (assuming they are utilizing the MSN protocol, of course).  The lack of this functionality has me back using Windows Live Messenger for MSN and Pidgin for Jabber, as opening a group chat is the primary usage of MSN for me at work.

Thanks in advance for your consideration,

Hi, Michael.

This is an interesting request.

I'm not an msn-pecan developer, but what I can tell you for sure, is
that your best bet is to file a bug report so developers (most likely
felipec) don't forget about your request.

You can raise the issue as an enhancement request in the "Issues"[1]
site and clicking the "New Issue" button.

In the Pidgin interface I see an "Add chat..." entry in the group context
menu, so there may be a chance to be used by the plugin for that. I
really have no idea how, though.

Maybe some real developer can provide a more through insight to this.

If you have any comments, please "reply to all", so the mailing list
is kept carbon-copied. BTW, if you can remove your signature images
from future messages it would be a big help for the mailing list.

Cheers!

Octavio,

Much appreciated; I've submitted the request as an issue per your suggestion. I apologize for the signature images earlier. The "Add chat..." entry appears to only work for XMPP in my experience (I only use Pidgin currently for XMPP and MSN protocol, so it may work for other protocols), but I can see where we could tie into it for a "create MSN group chat" and set up a predefined list of contacts to group chat; I detailed potentially doing so in the new issue.

Again, thanks for your feedback. I hope this is something that the developers are able to implement.

Sincerely,
