To whom it may concern,

After going through some documents regarding MQTT-SN, I am a little bit confused.  I understand there is a gate needed between MQTT-SN and MQTT.  Can I put them in the same machine, like a Raspberry Pi.  It will save me a lot of efforts if so.

Thank you.

Best,
Wenlong

Hello Wenlong,

If this is just a little experiment, then yes, go-ahead and put the
gateway on the same machine as the MQTT server.

There is a long-term goal to add MQTT-SN protocol support to Mosquitto
but in the meantime a gateway is required to translate the protocols.

Hello Wenlong,

This has to be decided based on the way you are planning to implement the solution. If you are looking for managing devices behind a firewall and the number of devices to be managed is in the order of thousands and you don't need to send data to the internet. You can run both the Gateway and the Broker on a single machine even in the production set up.

So it is purely a call based on your need.
