Two concurrent paho C client programs on the same RPi connecting to local Mosquitto Broker...

is causing trouble. One of the Client is being disconnected. 

Is that to be expected using the synchronous paho-mqtt3c shared lib?

Is there another library/way to make it work.

sounds like you're using the same client id on both of them.
don't do that.
