Way to react from mqtt broker if connection in between is broken and state of client id reusal

Hi,

If suppose the connection is broken in between,What should the broker do in order to detect the broken connection?Also, in that case is there any provision that client id of that broken connection be reused or that should be maitained somehow on the broker side.
