MQTT Used as a protocol to control Drones over radio waves

Are there bridges available that would allow MQTT to communicate to drones across radio waves?

MQTT is an application layer protocol; so, abstracted from the physical layer. A LoRa with standard TCP/IP as back haul might work.

Am also exploring radio for a solution that requires long battery life.
