In June, Google GOOGL -0.24% pledged $50 million to Made with Code, an
initiative aimed at getting a million girls exposed to computer science by
2020. As a 21-year-old rising college junior who only started formally
learning to code this past year, I hope we don’t lose sight of helping the
females who missed out on exposure at a young age but want to get into the
coding game later in their lives.

Last year, as the IRS scandal blossomed over the IRS supposedly targeting
"conservative" groups for extra attention concerning their non-profit
status, we noted that the IRS had also been told to examine "open source
software" projects more closely as well.

Yesterday, New America’s Learning Technologies Project sent a letter to
Secretary Arne Duncan urging him to recognize the risks posed to students’
educational opportunities under the new proposal from the Federal
Communication Commission.
