Authentication with the rest API

Hey all

I am developing a UI for bugzilla aimed towards mobile (offline) usage, we
will be including a small bug filing application in Firefox OS shortly and
looking to expand it to a full client in the not distant future. (You can
see a very early WIP @ http://bzlite.com/)

I have come up against a few limitations of the REST API, however right now
the major one is the inability of persona (and upcoming github) users to be
able to login to clients that consume the bugzilla api

filed for it.

In the short term I guess that this is not a particularly easy fix, but I
would like to learn about the possible workarounds or ways to ease the
burden on and make api key usage easier as well as the long terms plans of
having full functionality (including registration and authentication)
usable for API clients as well as on bugzilla.mozilla.org.
