I needed to create a new mail account and though it works fine I goofed
in the creation. Somehow I created it outside "Local Folders" so all the
mail addressed to it does no go into the unified "INBOX" under "Local
Folders" but instead into a separate and new Inbox folder.

I modified the new account's setting so now the mail does go into the
old unified INBOX but the separate inbox persists, the new account
folder remains separate, and there now are 2 Local folders! (see below)
How do I fix things without removing and recreating the new account?

Currently the fold arrangement is as follows:

Inbox (new)
New account folder *****
Local Folders *****
Drafts
Sent
Archives
Trash
Outbox
"New account's name" *****
Local Folders *****
my many folders .....
etc.

Thank you, Jeff

Did you want to create a POP account (download mail and generally remove from server)
or an IMAP account (view and manipulate mail as it remains on the remote server)?

Which type of account did you actually create?
(when viewing "Account Settings" click the "Server Settings" line
and observe the "Server Type: ?????" top line on the right side).

For "extra credit" (to enable a helper to test what your ISP supports),
you could even state the actual name of the incoming server,
which is on the next line below the Server Type.

Thanks for replying. It's a POP account.

The server (which supports both POP and IMAP) is the same one I use for
several of my other POP accounts. So the server is not new.

It is just the weird way it appears in the left folder pane. In this
folder pane, none of my other 6 mail accounts have a separate Inbox,
Trash and Outbox folders, except for this new account. The Folder pane
is organized and appears as follows (see **):

Inbox (123)
**New accountname
Local Folders (120)
Drafts (5)
Sent (7)
Archives
2012
Trash
**New accountname
Local Folders
Outbox
**folder for New account emails
Local Folders
all the other mail folders ......
Newslist folders

As you can see (**) the new account has
a) its own Inbox folder _outside_ "Local Folders"
b) its own Trash folder _outside_ "Local Folders"
c) its own Outbox folder _outside_ "Local Folders"

None of my other 6 POP accounts have their own separate Inbox, Trash and
Outbox folders. Don't know why this one does. Can't see anything
different in its setup.
