My webserver host (NDCHosts) provides a CalDAV server. When I
try to use it the calendar is marked as "off," eg: I can check it
to show and can not enter events. If I use rt-clck-> properties
I can click the calendar on, the check mark shows for about 1
second and then it resets to unchecked.

No error messages.

Is there a log that says what is happening?

Any other suggestions ?

What version of Thunderbird and what version of Lightning do you use?

Do you get any error messages in Tools > Error Console when creating the
calendar?

If nothing shows up you can enable additional output by setting the
advanced preferences
"calendar.debug.log" and
"calendar.debug.log.verbose"
to "true" using Options > Advanced > General > Config Editor.

The "Error code: DAV_NOT_DAV." message usually happens when the URL is
wrong. Another hint towards this is that
https://shared20.servers.xxxxxxx.com:2080/rpc/principals/michigan is
actually the principal URL, not the calendar URL.

Please re-subscribe with the correct URL.

I have the feeling this may have to do with that autodiscovery extension
you are using. If you can figure out the calendar url instead of the
principal url, try disabling the autodiscovery extension and subscribing
to that calendar directly.

for fun I went directly to
https://shared20.servers.xxxx.com:2080/rpc/calendars/michigan/calendar:775b9b1aded77772fc4a129e3f1dcd17

and after logging in got the reply:

associated with it. The document tree is shown below.
<d:error>
<s:exception>Sabre\DAV\Exception\NotFound</s:exception>

I reformatted for legibility - the copy had no line-breaks

But, OTOH, the events are displayed in the calendar

Can you clarify: in the subject you wrote that you want to connect to a
CalDAV server. But according to your logs it looks like your using the
ics provider to access a single ics file instead of using the caldav
provider to access the server. Did you choose the correct calendar type
when creating the calendar?

It is a CalDAV server
I picked CalDAV server.

I don't know why the log says that.
