Pontoon translation memory

Hello,

Can you please improve translation memory speed and accuracy in pontoon.
Right now it's horrible.

For example:
https://pontoon.mozilla.org/hr/activity-stream-new-tab/strings.properties/?string=166609
It has 100% identical string, already translated, you can find it here:
https://pontoon.mozilla.org/hr/activity-stream-new-tab/strings.properties/?string=166602

Guess what, no suggestions from pontoon.
There is tons of examples, like "Top stories" string which appear at
least 5 times, no suggestions...

We are also looking for improved Translation Memory for Tamil.


Matjaz, Is this issue is specific to fewer languages or for all of them ?

There is a perfect match in the Machinery tab for both of these strings.

For Top Stories I also see several matches for Croatian, perfect and fuzzy:

Could you be more specific about the speed? How horrible it is (in numbers)? :)

I'm not sure it's an accuracy problem? I'm looking at these two
strings now (4 hours later), and I'm seeing translation memory matches
showing up.

The first translation is 8 minutes older than the second one, I'm not
sure how often the Translation Memory is updated though, or if there's
some caching mechanism.

"Top Stories" is definitely different, they're several hours apart
(but I see suggestions in Translation Memory now).

Regarding accuracy, it would definitely help to have specific examples
of TM still failing. The only problem I'm aware of is the 255
characters limitation.

Just for the record, I remember that I recently had similar issues when
working on Pontoon. By issues, I mean:
1) I translated a string.
2) A few strings later, there was another string which was 100% exact to
the string in step 1.
Pontoon did not suggest anything.

I'm not sure whether this was a FTL project, but there was definately
something going on with translation memory.

Sorry to be so vague, I'll keep an eye on it.
