Hi,

The SeaMonkey projet is planning a final 1.1 release, very soon now,
possibly in the next days (unless we decide to wait for Gecko 1.8.1.2).

In any case, the language parts should be really stable now, we expect
no changes other than core security/stability fixes, if any changes at all.

Our candidate builds for this release are in
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/candidates-1.1/
- be sure they are dated February 8th, as any prior date would be builds
that don't have the copyright change to 2007 yet. Those builds should be
released completely unchanged as long as QA doesn't find any last-minute
problems with them and we don't decide to wait for Gecko 1.8.1.2 as
stated above.

As always, please test the builds and feel free to already prepare
updated binaries and langpacks (if needed) but don't publicly release
them before our official release is out.

I'll reply in this thread once we are sure when we actually will do the
public release or we change current plans.

Thanks for you work,

Robert Kaiser

I bet you mean *January 8th*. ;-) Thank you for the effort of
providing us with new binaries.

Ricardo.

Sure I do, thanks for noticing that. Be aware that we in fact might
really do a respin of binaries, no changes in the langpack though, just
some small code fixes.

We have done another round of candidates with only slight updates (no
langpack changes), those are date January 11/12 and believed to be
really the release builds now.

We're planning a release early to mid next week, probably Wednesday or
so. I hope that provides enough time to have some localizations
available early, i.e. in sync or shortly after the release.

[Development note:
This is the last feature release of SeaMonkey based on the old xpfe
code, future releases based on Gecko 1.9 and later will be based on the
newer toolkit used already by Firefox.
We're also working on getting source L10n in place for those, but that's
not working correctly yet and no locales have been officially allowed to
add suite L10n to CVS yet (except de for testing purposes). Once it
works correctly for the main parts of SeaMonkey (i.e. everything except
included extensions like ChatZilla or venkman) and can allow further
locales to be added, I'll announce this here.

We are able to hold this schedule, as it seems, the builds should hit a
mirror near you at
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/1.1/
within the next few hours, if they are not there already.

An important note for all localizers and our user communities is that
the famous "reportertool" XML error (red-on-gray text at the bottom of
the screen) is gone with 1.1 (also with upcoming 1.0.8), we finally
fixed the relevant bug in reporter:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=365005

Hope to have a good release and to see some localizations soon,

The SeaMonkey 1.1 release is now officially done, see
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/

FYI, we released the last round of candidates (-01-11/12 builds) as final.
