Firefox L10n Report - Aurora 54

Hi everyone,
Today starts a new Aurora cycle with Firefox 54, and we’re back to the
more traditional 6 weeks length.

These are the key dates for the current cycle:
* Beta (53): localization updates for already shipping locales must be
completed before 5 April.
* Aurora (54): localization updates must be completed before 17 April.
That’s the Monday, also known as merge day, before the next release of
Firefox.

String breakdown:
* Firefox Aurora desktop has 179 added strings (102 obsolete). About 35%
of the new strings are for Developer Tools.
* Fennec Aurora has 44 new strings (28 obsolete). 4 new strings are
Fennec-only (in /mobile).

I came accross the 'Mozilla Location Service Key' string [1], which
resulted doubtful: is 'Mozilla Location Service' [2] considered a
trademark? should it be translated?

After checking with Francesco, this can be left untranslated, as in
the end it is technical internal support information.

For all locales working on Pootle: please make sure to double check when
you accept suggestions from translation memory.

I've only started looking at Aurora, but already found a couple of
locales that accepted a suggestion for appMenuRemoteTabs.showAll.label.

The problem is that the suggested match has an accesskey ("&Show All"),
the new one doesn't ("Show All"), so you end up with &amp; in your
translation ("&amp;Show All").

Quick update:
* We have a first request to uplift a patch with 2 strings[1], it should
land in the coming days.
* There seems to be an issue with Pootle, a few strings in DevTools
(less than 10) are not showing up for localization. Investigation is
under way.

Hi,
I've noticed another recurring issue with wc-reporter.label in
webcompat.properties

This is a string destined to be displayed in the hamburger menu (on
Nightly and Aurora), \u00ad is a special character used to tell the
system to disable hyphenation.

You should *not* keep that character in your translation, unless that's
what you plan to do (disable automatic hyphenation, only after testing
on as many platforms as possible). I would also point out that a lot of
the translations I see are going to get truncated (there's space only
for 3 lines).

Please make sure to test this button on Developer Edition.

We discovered that this is only enabled in Nightly builds (I assumed
it was enabled also on Aurora, but it isn't).

It also means that, for example, it's not possible to test it with
Afrikaans, since we don't have Nightly builds at the moment (but
that's going to change in the coming months).

In case you're wondering: there's no way to avoid exposing strings for
nightly-only features to Aurora localization. Strings land in
mozilla-central and move to mozilla-aurora, even if the feature is
disabled there.
