Bonjour localizers !

Focus for Android testing is moving away from Taskcluster and coming to
Google Play in the form of Nightlies.

To have access to these, the mobile team will have to whitelist localizers'
Google account first. Many of you have in the past communicated those when
we were using the (even more) previous BuddyBuilds - but in the meantime,
more people have joined, and some of you I will have to contact directly in
order to update the email.

Anyways, please reach out to me directly (don't reply to the list here) if
you haven't sent me your Google account info in the past, and I'll make
sure you are good to go.

Thanks everyone!

cheers

One thing I didn't explicitely call out, is that you will have to use that
email address to later access the Focus Android Nightlies on Google Play.
Thanks Wim for catching that ;)

cheers

Most people that I had a Google account for should have been whitelisted
already.
Those of you that I only responded to today, probably will need to wait
until tomorrow.

I thought you'd get notified once whitelisted, but apparently not.

So here are the next steps: now, you will need to opt-in with the same
Google account by going to this URL:
https://play.google.com/apps/internaltest/4698596548865727179

Let me know if you run into any issues! thanks

Hello Delphine!

I proceeded and s note said I would have to wait for the build to be
downloaded and installed. I did it a few hours ago, I don't think I have
the new build yet.

Is it as before, do I have to uninstall the old build for the new one to
download?

My actual Focus is 4.1 build #11. I don't know if it is the new one or the
old one. Do you know?

Many thanks!
Best regards,
Gabriela

Hi Gaby,

I haven't been whitelisted yet, so I'm sorry I can't tell.
I don't think you'd have to uninstall the previous version though.

Your build sounds like an older one, since we're going to ship v5 soon.

I'll try tomorrow and I'll let you know.

Hi Delphine,

I received the new build this morning, so all's fine!

The weird thing is the es-AR one has some English text and some strings
addressing the user in the informal way "vos" instead of the formal way
"usted". Even weirder, I cannot find those strings in Pontoon even in
English! Are there Focus strings available for translation in some other
place than Pontoon?

Huh, that's super weird. I think you're going to have to be more specific:
what strings appear in English?
Also, I don't see a single occurence of "vos" in es-AR strings. And only
one "usted".

Let's take this off the list (but if other people see same things, please
chime in)

I haven't been looking in the translations, but I would guess some strings
are actually shared from Gecko. In the WebView Focus/Klar, there were some
WebView strings present, especially on error screens etc. Might that be the
case?

Thanks for sending out!

Talked with Sebastian and seems like the English strings here are new
strings, that have not been exposed yet. They'll probably show up at the
next export.

cheers

Do you mean these strings will show up in Pontoon sooner or later?

Best regards,
Gabriela

Update: since some people don't want to use Google Play, but are still
interested in testing, the .apk remains on Taskcluster
<https://tools.taskcluster.net/index/project.focus.android/preview-builds>
as well.

Thanks
