Hi all,

There have recently been changes in glibc library for Catalan language
that might impact the representation of long date formats.
Particularly, the Catalan preposition "de" could appear repeated (e.g.
"1 _de_ _de_ gener de 2018") in certain date formats.
This problem can be circumvented by changing the translation of the
string that defines datetime in the application. There are multiple
applications affected (we keep track of them in:
https://www.softcatala.org/projectes/abril/)

So we are wondering whether any of the Mozilla products is impacted by
this. Are any products using glibc library for dates/times?

FYI, this is change in glibc:
https://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=22848

Thank you!

salut,
jordi s

Thanks for the heads up!

No, we don't.
We're 100% backed by ICU and CLDR dataset both for the public JS Intl API and for the UI.

Hope that helps!

It absolutely helps! :-)

I assume this is the case for Thunderbird as well...?

Thank you very much, zb!
