If you have one of these devices, or someone on your team does, and you would like to be able to test your localization there, please fill out this form[1]. Even if you have not opted in to localize Firefox for iOS for this Spring Release, but think that you will sometime during 2015, please fill out this form. It will help us to estimate how many people will be participating this testing program for future releases.

Sadly, no. I've been coordinating with the iOS team to make a subgroup
for l10n testing and pinging them about it regularly. I'm hoping to have
an update on Monday.

Thanks for your patience.

It would be great if we would have time and builds to test and possibility to apply corrections before release.

Agreed. I'm working with the team to make this top priority. I apologize

Hi everyone,

I'm very happy to announce that as of tomorrow, those of you who signed
up for iOS l10n testing on an iOS device through TestPilot will receive
individual, next step instructions to download and begin testing your
localizations. Thank you all for your patience with the process as the
iOS team sorted out both some technical and legal challenges to enable
localizers to test early. You will receive an email from Jenn Chaulk
(CC'd above) with further details.

Please remember that the builds you'll be testing are not release-ready
and in some ways are not even fully-functional. You're thorough testing
and feedback, however, will ensure that your localizations are of the
highest quality before shipping.

We'll also be exposing new en-US source strings tomorrow (around 20).
I'll be sure to announce on this list once those are available.

Thank you, and as always, if you have questions please ping me.

Hi,
some more notes on the process since I've seen a build 9 around and I'd
like to avoid confusion.

Your localization in this first build won't be complete, even if the
dashboard says 100%
https://l10n.mozilla-community.org/~flod/webstatus/?product=firefox-ios

The en-US reference file currently has 113 strings, but it's missing
strings from the last week (around 20 as Jeff already said).

There are localization bugs (look at the bottom of the list)
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/showdependencytree.cgi?id=1092387&hide_resolved=1

If you find a localization issue, and it's not already covered, file a
bug, please CC me and block 1092387. Be aware that it might just be a
string not yet exposed for localization, feel free to ping me on IRC if
you have doubts.

Switch the phone language to Swedish. If the language is not available
in iOS, there's not much that we can do at the moment.

Yes. Follow the instructions to get the build working in XCode, and
import your localization
https://github.com/mozilla/firefox-ios/

In that case I think you can try to trick the simulator and even test an
unsupported locale (e.g. importing Sorbian as English by switching the
target-language, and making XCode believe that's English).

Again, sorry about that crasher. It was a nasty bug that only happened on
32 bit devices.

We pushed out a new TestFlight build this morning that should work on all
devices supported by iOS 8 and up.

We will have a discussion on how to improve testing on a wider range of
supported devices .So that we can prevent this kind of thing from
happening. (We do test in the simulator on 32 and 64 bit in an autimated
way, but this specific bug only happened on a real device)

Hi Wim,

As a West-Fries it hurts me to tell you that I actually got an error
message during the App Store import process saying that fy-NL was not a
supported locale. Should we file a bug with Apple to request support for it?

Hi Stefan,

Well that might be a good idea. Another option might be that they use 'fy'
or 'fy_NL' instead of 'fy-NL'.
Please keep me posted and if there is anything i can do please do contact
me.

The funny thing is that Xcode doesn't report it as a problem, instead it
recognizes the locale code and will even call up the strings resources
in the iOS simulator after you've selected the locale in the build
scheme. On the device, if you attempt to search for Frisian to add, no
option is displayed. I suspect they don't use any variation of the
locale code on device. We'll have to file a bug.

Another example of incompatibility between Xcode and what's on the
device :-/

fy and fy-NL seem to be somewhat recent additions to cldr, which might
explain the different behaviors across platforms.

Seems that http://unicode.org/cldr/trac/ticket/6926 is the ticket.
