Like for the previous report, please let us know if you would like to
see changes or have ideas, we’re eager to discuss that with you. And

As the report mentions, there's a new "Onboarding experience" feature.
I noticed this some time ago while going through pending Firefox
Nightly strings. Unfortunately I left it almost entirely untranslated
as I really want to understand the context of the messages to provide
a proper translation.

My question is: how can we trigger the screens of the onboarding
experience to properly test the localized feature? Please forgive me
if this has been mentioned elsewhere but I couldn't find anything
relevant. I realize there are some onboarding-related about:config
entries, so I'm guessing changing something there might help.

TIA,
Julen.

If you're using Nightly, simply open a new tab (about:newtab), you
should see a fox icon in the top left corner.
Click on it and you'll get the Onboarding Tour (note that it's slightly
different in 57 than 56).

Firefox 56 is not available in Beta yet, it should be within the next
couple of days.

Also creating a new profile should trigger all Onboarding notifications
at the bottom of the New tab.

In my default profile the fox icon doesn't show up on the top left
corner so I could only trigger this by creating a new profile.
Likewise, there are strings referencing the Library and the unified
address bar, but I cannot find these in the onboarding UI. Any
pointers?

Thanks!

Julen.

Interesting, I've only seen that behavior with the dev version of
Activity Stream installed. I guess other add-ons touching the new tab
could have that effect.

Some of those strings are quite hard to test, because different versions
of the onboarding are displayed to different users (e.g. user on 56,
user updating to 57, etc.).

Unified search: this is the mockup
https://bug1371531.bmoattachments.org/attachment.cgi?id=8885201

These are the instructions to display them

The onboarding fox does not appear on the left hand side on newtab here,
either. Welsh translation.

Try this. Go to about:config and search for onboarding. There are some
boolean preferences if the tour has been completed and should be hidden.
Maybe you have flipped some of them.

Also make sure you have the new Activity Stream new tab page.

I think this sentence was incomplete and you were referring to:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1371531#c9

On the other hand I also notice there's yet another section on
performance, which requires adding the 'performance' key to the
comma-separated list in 'browser.onboarding.newtour'.

Last but not least, I'm unsure how many of these sections are supposed
to be displayed simultaneously in the onboarding tour, but I realize
if 5-6+ sections are enabled, the popup window doesn't accommodate the
contents and it's very likely menu contents might be cut off in many
locales.
