Access to Toolbox Console panel from WebExtension

Can I log into the Toolbox Console panel from a WebExtension as before using add-ons [1]? If so, is there an example?
If I can log to it, is there also an API to get the HTML of the console panel so I can ensure, in my automated webextension tests, that messages were logged properly?
