TBS Montford Point Trail and Park Opening Recognizing OMPMs

The Commanding Officer of The Basic School (TBS) cordially invite you to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Montford Point Trail and Park recreation area. The Montford Point Trail and Park is scheduled to open on 26 July 2013, at 0730. TBS permanent staff personnel and students will honor the Montford Point Marines by participating in a Biathlon. July 26th will mark the 65th anniversary of Executive Order 9981 in which President Harry Truman abolished racial discrimination in the U.S. military.
Your presence is requested to support this historical event to honor our heroes. MPMA members are asked to wear the MPMA uniform, white polo shirt with logo or plain white polo, gray trousers/slacks with MPMA cover.
Those who choose to carpool, please meet at the parking area at the I-95 underpass leading toward TBS at 0645, 26 July 2013. All others can park aboard TBS in the designated parking lot. The starting point is located in the parking lot located behind the base gym.
Quantico Chapter # 32 President, Mr. Eric Nelson is the designated POC for MPMA. Please provide President Nelson the names of all Original Montford Point Marines who plan to attend the event. President Nelson email address is ew...@aol.com.
Safety is paramount, so please ensure that you are drinking plenty of water and hydrating. Please express this matter to the Montford Point Marines who plan to attend. Please ensure that you wear flat shoes or boots because of the terrain around the pond and on the walking trail. Please do not wear heels. Lastly for your comfort, please make sure to bring insect repellants, as this will be needed to ward off pesky insects.
