What is the difference between "HTTP Content Cache" and "Metadata Cache"?

In the video https://youtu.be/6uCAdQSHhmA?t=1973 I see pagespeed has two different caches, "HTTP Content Cache" and "Metadata Cache". What is the difference between them?

Which of them must be on the disk? which of them can be on tmpfs?

That helped, thanks.

So if I understood correctly HTTP Cache are the files fetched (js, css, images) while metadata cache is (roughly) information about transformed URLs, information about images, etc.
