compress images in a folder/directory using mod_pagespeed

Hi ,

I have a folder in Ubuntu server which holds a directory of images ,accessible by apache2.4.7 and the same read by different users from the same server name.

enabled mod_pagespeed in apache, but ougoing images were not compressed.but its happening when i placed those in /var/www/html folder.

is there any way,so that i will make a request by specifying the path of the image and get compress.

Looking for a pagespeed api which will take the request as image and compress it as per the provided query parameters.

better to have an example
