Hello,

as we upgraded to MPS 1.9, I tried to use new features, like cache purging by using URL

/pagespeed_global_admin/cache#purge_cache

Neither "Purge individual" or "purge entire" does not work. I have following lines in config:

ModPagespeedEnableCachePurge on
ModPagespeedPurgeMethod PURGE

Once I've pushed the (purge) button, "Success message" has come, but nothing really happens.

What to check or what to set to get it working ?

PS: I've tried central domain (server domain) as well, as individual (affected) domain.

Thank you.
Ivan

How are you making the observation that the purging didn't work?  I'm guessing that you purged via a WGET or CURL request or something, and not by the GUI.  If you do bring up the GUI, do you see something like this, which is the result of me purging url 'foo' on modpagespeed.com:

The key thing to look for is that your url should be listed at the bottom of the page in the "purge set" list.

I've used GUI for sure :)

Jeff, that's the issue I think. I'm getting "Added to purge set", but it's nod added to any list below, as shown on the pic. What to check please ? Are there any special write rights needed or something like that ?

Thanks.
Ivan

Can you see if anything get added to your apache error.log at the time you pressed one of the purge buttons?

Unfortunately there is nothing about that in the error or info log. I've also checked main Apache log as well, as Vhost log. Everything seems to went fine, except the real purging:

194.1.157.119 - developer [10/Mar/2015:17:08:29 +0100] www.runetti.eu www.runetti.eu "GET /pagespeed_global_admin/cache?new_set= HTTP/1.1" 200 52 "http://www.runetti.eu/pagespeed_global_admin/cache" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0"

194.1.157.119 - developer [10/Mar/2015:17:08:33 +0100] www.runetti.eu www.runetti.eu "GET /pagespeed_global_admin/cache?purge=foo HTTP/1.1" 200 36 "http://www.runetti.eu/pagespeed_global_admin/cache" "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Fedora; Linux x86_64; rv:36.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/36.0"

What exactly is PURGE doing on the background ? Maybe I can search for some other blocking..

Thanks.
Ivan

Can you share your pagespeed.conf -- at least the cache-related lines for the root and each vhost?

Sure, here is relevant part of pagespeed.conf:

    ModPagespeed off
    ModPagespeedEnableCachePurge on
    ModPagespeedPurgeMethod PURGE
    ModPagespeedInheritVHostConfig on
    AddOutputFilterByType MOD_PAGESPEED_OUTPUT_FILTER text/html
    ModPagespeedFileCachePath            "/var/cache/mod_pagespeed/"
    ModPagespeedLogDir "/var/log/pagespeed"
    ModPagespeedSslCertDirectory "/etc/ssl/certs"

    ModPagespeedCreateSharedMemoryMetadataCache "/var/cache/mod_pagespeed_tmpfs/" 102400
    ModPagespeedDefaultSharedMemoryCacheKB   102400
    ModPagespeedFileCacheSizeKb          5120000
    ModPagespeedFileCacheCleanIntervalMs 82800000
    ModPagespeedCssFlattenMaxBytes       100000
    ModPagespeedFileCacheInodeLimit        500000
    ModPagespeedEnableFilters add_instrumentation
    ModPagespeedStatistics on

   <Location /pagespeed_global_admin>
        SetHandler pagespeed_global_admin
        AuthType Basic
        AuthUserFile /etc/apache2/pagespeed_password
        Require valid-user
        AuthName Password
    </Location>

..and settings in the .htaccess of the affected domain:

<IfModule pagespeed_module>
    ModPagespeed on
    ModPagespeedRewriteLevel CoreFilters
    ModPagespeedEnableFilters convert_jpeg_to_webp
    ModPagespeedEnableFilters collapse_whitespace,remove_comments
    ModPagespeedEnableFilters prioritize_critical_css
    ModPagespeedDisallow */captcha/*
</IfModule>

Do you need also VHost settings ?

Thank you.
Ivan

Can you send the contents of /var/cache/mod_pagespeed/cache.purge ?  Also can you type:
  ls -l /var/cache/mod_pagespeed/cache.purge
I want to see the ownership and permissions.

And yes, I want to see the caching setup for the vhosts as well.

Seems, that it's added to the list:

# ls -l /var/cache/mod_pagespeed/cache.purge
-rw-rw-rw- 1 tomisko users 42 Mar 10 17:09 /var/cache/mod_pagespeed/cache.purge

# cat /var/cache/mod_pagespeed/cache.purge

1426020882647 http://www.runetti.eu/foo
1426020948107 http://www.runetti.eu/bar

I'll send also VHost conf soon.

Anyway, if I try to purge specific URL / file (eg. CSS), I'm still getting old content. By switching MPS off, new content is loaded, switching on, old content is back.

One more thing, we are using "load from file", does it matter ?

ModPagespeedLoadFromFileMatch "^https?://www.runetti.(com|de|fr|fi|eu)/static/" "/home/tomisko/Vika/production/public/static/"

If you do a full-cache purge does it work?

If you revert to the legacy 'touch cache.flush' model does it work?

Thanks,
-Josh

We tested both, but seems, that none of these is working actually, which is a bit strange..
