Went to radio shack this evening..I was suprised by the selection they had, and the prices weren't insane!
In this pic we have (from top to bottom)
Arduinos
Arduino Shields
SEEED studio Shields (the proto shield was particularly reasonable at $10)
Parallax boards (propeller and basic stamp)
At the very bottom were some really cool proto boards. The three on the right were for soldering on a SMT chip to break out the pins. Really cool!
Out of the picture to the right were some neat (and modern looking) books.
I was really surprised by what I found in there..

Ok, which radioshack is that, because the one near my house is sad. They have some arduino "clone" boards and a couple of really stupid breakout boards that aren't good for anything. How is the component selection? Its hard to find anything besides a 100k Ohm resistor at my radioshack.
