Frostbite Falls is International Falls' other name. I Falls
claims to be the coldest spot in the nation -- although Leadville, CO
claims they don't know what they're talking about....

If there was, it was probably carved in ice and melted the next 2
springs. After all, when you only get 2 weeks of warm weather, ice lasts
a loooong time.

And Embarrass, MN knows they are both wrong.

Frostbite Falls is about 200 miles west of Foggy Bog, Wisconsin. Foggy
Bog is the home of Hoppity Hooper. So, once you find Foggy Bog on a
map, just go west.

From the International Falls Area Minnesota 1994 Visitor's Guide:

HISTORY AND FOLKLORE

Inspiration for Frostbite Falls

As members of the baby boom generations know, Frostbite Falls is the hometown
of cartoon characters Bullwinkle Moose and Rocket J. Squirrel. In an interview
with The Daily Journal, the late Jay Ward, creator of Bullwinkle and Rocky,
revealed that International Falls was the inspiration for Frostbite Falls,
"the sleepy little town where nothing ever happens." Bullwinkle and Rocky
continue to appear in comic books and the original TV programs are now
available on video.

Frostbite Falls is a ficticious name made up in Hollywood. Minnesota does
have the town of Embarass though. Also the towns of Intercourse and Climax
are nine miles apart, really.

It's a real place north of Gopher Prairie and Lake Wobegone.

Sorry for bringing out this old jem, but I'm going to add my own two cents now. Yes, Frostbite Falls is based of Int'l Falls, MN but the there's a little swamp off of Peyla Rd in Embarrass Township (also in MN) that holds the record of -68F a couple years back (the 3rd time in 10 years that broke the -65 mark). It actually broke the thermometer, so the official reading is only -66F. & yup, am a native girl that has seen my share of Moose... & Rocky's non-flying kindred.
Hey, Squirrel, you do know you're nocturnal, don't you?
