Hello MN GRIN Members: I am pleased to announce the appointment of Shawn Rounds to the position of Head of State Archives and State Archivist effective immediately. Shawn has served in an acting role since November 1, 2011. In this position, Shawn will oversee activities related to the Minnesota Historical Society's (MHS) government records collection, and will play a key role in implementing digital preservation practices for the Library and Collections Division of the MHS. Prior to this appointment, Shawn was the digital archivist for the State Archives, a position she held since she joined the Society in March 1998. Since 2008 she also served as the Assistant Head of Collections in the Collections and Reference Department. During her tenure at MHS, Shawn has coordinated the preservation of digital government records, served as manager of a number of federal grant projects, and has been active in various state government information management initiatives. Nationally, Shawn serves as editor for the National Association of Government Archivists and Records Administrators (NAGARA) Committee on Electronic Records and Information Systems's electronic records white paper series, Crossroads. She also chairs the Council of State Archivists' electronic records governance sub-committee.
Also, for your information, attached is the State Archives annual report for FY 2012. Please contact Shawn or me if you have any questions or comments.
