That may be, but Rush Limbaugh thinks they are wrong, and that's all the
right wing guys around here need to know to form their opinion on the
subject. They would take Rush's word over 1,700 scientists any day of
the week. I mean what do they know compared to Rush?

There are 1700 physical scientists in Britain. They are probably all
social scientists, like the ones in the US.

That's a lot of psychologists. Are any meteorologists? Any physical
scientists? Rembember to speak the truth or be cast below the surface of
the earth where Algore says the temperatures are over a million degrees.

I believe Algore. Algore invented the Internet. "Love Story" was written
about him and Tipper. Algore cleaned up Love Canal, and plowed fields in
Tennessee while going to school in New York. Algore has pictures of
Polar Bears dying from global warming, and has shown us that below the
surface of the earth the temperature is over a million degrees F. He has
projected Florida being under 600 feet of water. What is there not to
believe?

Well, I believe Rush. He said he wasn't a drug addict. He said that he
didn't have people score Oxycontin for him. He said he didn't need to go
to drug rehab. He's highly educated and he knows everything about
science and the field of climate change. He's a real expert on the
subject and he has no bias towards the energy industry. Yeah, Rush is
much more credible than Al Gore. Right?

Climate scientists have been disagreeing for years and years.

But not today. They're all in agreement except for 1 or 2
disreputable louts.

The Trewartha climate classification scheme is a modified version of
the Köppen system. It attempts to redefine the broad climatic groups
in such a way as to be closer to vegetational zoning, especially in
the United States. Under the standard Köppen system western Washington
and Oregon are classed into the same climate as southern California,
even though the two regions have strikingly different weather and
vegetation. It also classes southern New England into the same climate
as the Gulf Coast. Trewartha's modifications sought to reclass the
Pacific Northwest seaboard as a different climate from California, and
New England from the Gulf Coast.[20]

1700 scientists, not one of which is willing to debate. In contrast
us skeptics have 30,000, all of which are perfectly open to debate.

Have you asked any of them, you evasive jackass. Using "which" instead
of "whom" is a dead give away to the fact that you know some of those
names are not real, live people.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oregon_Petition
"Scientific American took a random sample of 30 of the 1,400
signatories claiming to hold a Ph.D. in a climate-related science. Of
the 26 we were able to identify in various databases, 11 said they
still agreed with the petition —- one was an active climate
researcher, two others had relevant expertise, and eight signed based
on an informal evaluation. Six said they would not sign the petition
today, three did not remember any such petition, one had died, and
five did not answer repeated messages. Crudely extrapolating, the
petition supporters include a core of about 200 climate researchers –
a respectable number, though rather a small fraction of the
climatological community.

You should know better, the Arbor Society should know better, and the
USDA should know better.

The USDA climate zones are based on the minimum average temperature
over what period of time?

NWS settled on 30 year moving averages a long time ago. The USDA
seems to have no standard.

Furthermore, allowing the Arbor Society to run what appears to be one
year "averages" and displaying it as if it were a USDA map series is
disingenuous.

Folks, this is NOT science, and Cliff, you continue to do a disservice
to the readers of these news groups.

From Wikipedia:

The USDA first issued its standardized hardiness zone map in 1960, and
revised it in 1965. A new map was issued in 1990, based on U.S. and
Canadian data from 1974 through 1986 (and 1971-1984 for Mexico). While
the 1990-issue map utilized approximately double the number of
stations, it also divided the temperature zones into five-degree a/b
zones for greater accuracy.

(***)This revised map showed many areas to be suddenly colder than the
1960 map, due largely to a number of severely colder winters in the
central and eastern U.S. in the 1974-1986 data-gathering period as
opposed to the mid-20th century data-sampling period used in the 1960
map.

The 1990 map shows 10 different zones, each of which represents an
area of winter hardiness for the plants of agriculture and our natural
landscape. This was revised to introduce zone 11, representing areas
that have average annual minimum temperatures above 40°F (4.4°C) and
that are therefore essentially frost-free

Where is that, a small part of southern California?

AFAIK, any part of all the other US states on the
south border can get frost inland, and chances are
the local yokels know what the local low temperature
can be/has been.
