Control Keys don't work properly in MINIX3.

Hi all, 

I am newbie in MINIX. I am trying to write some code in C. I've tried using both vi and vim. I faced the problem with control keys. For example, I can't switch to INSERT mode. There is no any reaction when I push the button INSERT. A bit different issue takes place with arrows. I'm getting "A" when I push "Up", "B" when  I push "Down" etc. Keymap us-std is set. 

Can you please give me an advice how I can fix it?

2. Minix is runing under Virtualbox.

I can't find any VIM on my current MINIX distribution. I believe there's only VI available.
It's working great for me. I can enter insertion mode using 'i' and then back to cmd mode
with ESC. Arrow keys don't work in VI (Only VIM, note that VIM is different from VI).

On VMware Player, the arrow keys work as expected in Vi's input and visual modes.  They don't work in ex mode.
